Gear Kit Replacement in Downtown Vancouver

With this service call our customer called in saying that they were having troubles with their garage door but they weren’t exactly sure what was wrong with it. When we got to site we checked to see if they had a broken spring, which they did not. We then looked at the motor to make sure everything was running smoothly and discovered that the gear kit needed to be replaced. Shredded plastic gears are a common problem with chain drive openers but is an easy inexpensive fix. If you find that your motor seems to be running but the door isn’t moving it is usually a sign that either the motor has died and you need to replace the whole system or the gear kit is shredded and needs to be replaced.

Once we had the damaged gear kit removed we then installed the new gear kit which you can tell in the pictures which one is the damaged one. It is very important that we keep the gears lubed well at all times, this will help keep the wear of the plastic down and help the gear to last longer. After the new gear kit had been installed we provided our customer with a general service to their door and the rest of the motor to make sure everything else was lubed and the door was balance and aligned accordingly, finishing the job with testing the safety system for smooth operation before leaving site.
